Instructions and Welcome Letter
Dear Customer
Congratulations on your new Thorvald Lissau Solid Oak Bookcase. We hope it will serve the purpose you have intended for it.
We have strived to achieve the best and most natural look from our quality raw wood. Natural wood is a living material that can show differences in texture and colour, giving the furniture its own special look and soul. We'd love to hear from you, with a photo if you like - and you can always contact us.
The bookcase is delivered by carrier. Always check that the packages are intact on arrival, as a complaint must be made within a week of receipt if there is damage to the package or product.
The best is to take photos of the damage and send an email or text message to us or the freight company, along with the order confirmation we sent.
The bookcase is delivered assembled and folded upon receipt. It is placed on the floor or on a table and "folded" out to its size by lifting up one side - the shelf will then "open up. Should it be difficult to unfold, the brass screws on the back can be loosened two or three times. If the bookcase is large, it is a good idea to have two people to help you erect it.
Once the shelf is unfolded, retighten the shelf nuts easily (max 1kg) with the enclosed 7mm spanner. Make sure the shelves and vanes are at right angles (90 degrees) - a protractor can be used (for want of a better one, a book/block can be placed on the horizontal shelf and 'slid' against the vertical vane). A spirit level can also be used.
The CLASSIC shelving units
Mark off holes for suitable screws through the attached brackets at the round hole in the keyhole bracket (we are not allowed to include screws). Drill holes and screw the screws into the wall (in masonry or drywall use rawplugs) until the screw hits the bracket.
The FLOAT shelving units
Raise the shelf to the height you want it to hang - the shelf should be wadded.
Mark the holes for the screws through the brackets. Screw the screws into the wall (in brickwork/plaster use rawplugs) until at least 10mm of the screw is still out of the wall
Hook the shelf onto the brackets and screw in the screws so that they make contact with the brackets.
Enclosed are braces that can be fitted if the shelf is to carry a lot of load.
Please contact us for a photo for installation.
Enjoy your work and congratulations again on your new bookcase.
Kind regards
Thomas Lissau and the Thorvald Lissau team
